Our Gratitude for our Military and their Families.

Hampton Roads houses the largest Naval Base in the country; NOB is located in Norfolk off of Hampton Blvd and keeps many of the Navy’s fleet ready for deployment. Virginia Beach is widely known for its beaches and Oceana Naval Air Station, the Navy's master jet base for the east coast. With the master jet base in the center of Virginia Beach, there is always a feeling and sound of patriotism in the air. Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk and all of Hampton Roads cities have a strong military and military family presence.  In addition to Oceana, some of the other military installations located in and around Virginia Beach are:Little Creek, Fort Story, Navel Station Norfolk5th Coast Guard District, Langley Air Force Base and numerous others.

Virginia Beach is best known as a resort, with roughly 38 miles shoreline and  beaches and hundreds of hotels, motels, and restaurants along its oceanfront. Every year it is host to the East Coast Surfing Championship as well as the North American Sand Soccer Championship that attracts teams from around the world. It is also home to several state parks, several long protected beach areas, three military bases, a number of large corporations, two universities, and historic sites.

Virginia Beach is the easternmost of the Seven Cities of Hampton Roads and named one of the best places to live.  It is the most populous city in Virginia and the 41st largest city in the United States, with an estimated population of 435,619.

With it's long beaches and shorline where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, it is an attraction for anyone who enjoys mild weather, aquatic activities, endless recreational and entertainment opportunities provides excitement for young and old alike. With attractions like the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Center and Ocean Breeze Waterpark , Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, to Scuba Diving, everyone can find something to enjoy.

Virginia Beach has a very family-oriented community with an excellent public education system and many top-rated schools. Educating roughly 70,000 students, the Virginia Beach City Public School system has 57 elementary schools, 15 middle schools and 11 high schools, all with the focus of providing an exciting learning environment for the children. The High School Academy Programs recognizes that no educational program should adopt a "one-size-fits-all" philosophy and offers additional academic choices with seven different academies that specialize in individual areas such as Health Sciences, Advanced Technology and Visual and Performing Arts. For higher education choices closer to home, Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion College serves the southern Hampton Roads region. Bringing the community closer together, parents are very active with the academic studies and school sports that their children participate in.

Virginia Beach is best known for its tourism but the military and agribusiness sectors contribute to the City's economy. The City's economy also contains a large retail component. Major companies headquartered in Virginia Beach include Lillian Vernon and Stihl (North American headquarters). Other major employers include GEICO, Amerigroup, and Navy Exchange Service Command.

Tourism produces a large share of Virginia Beach's economy. With an estimated $857 million spent in tourism related industries, 14,900 jobs cater to 2.75 million visitors. City coffers benefit as visitors provide $73 million in revenue. Virginia Beach opened a Convention Center in 2005 which caters to large group meetings and events. Hotels not only line the Oceanfront but also cluster around Virginia Beach Town Center and other parts of the City. Restaurants and entertainment industries also directly benefit from Virginia Beach's tourism.

Virginia Beach is an excellent place to live. It has a little of everything that can suit just about anyone's taste. Search Virginia Beach homes for sale, or get your home's value, and all the Virginia Beach Real Estate resource information on my site.
