BBL Overseas Tackles Skill Shortages in Oil & Gas PDF Print E-mail

Oil & Gas is the fastest growing market in the world and is experiencing a huge skill shortage, many companies are finding it increasingly difficult to recruit sufficiently trained and skilled personnel for their projects all over the globe. Much of this problem stems from the down turn in the industry during the 1980’s and as a result a generation of potential workers were lost to what seemed at the time like more lucrative careers in IT and other industry.

BBL Overseas is currently tackling this recruitment problem for many companies in the oil & gas, petrochemical, Rig & Ship Repair, offshore and associated industries by making the most of internet technology. In addition to traditional methods of recruitment, BBL Overseas has utilized xml feeds which allow us to display and retrieve information on multiple specialist recruitment websites and job boards, giving us and our client’s access to the best potential candidates available.

We also look at employment from the employee’s perspective, for example there are competent welders who are unable to find welding jobs in Oil & Gas and Offshore due to the fact they don’t hold the relevant welding certification. In many cases this is purely down to the cost involved for the welder to pay for a private test, especially if they are in a low paid job or even worse are un-employed. So we have introduced a scheme that enable us to offer welders employment with the opportunity to obtain further certification whilst they work, we have similar schemes in place for Platers, Fabricators & Pipe Fitters and along with our other efforts this service has proved invaluable to our clients.
